Oscar H. Diefenthaler, 77, of R. 2, Kiel, died Sunday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for six weeks.
Born on Oct. 23, 1896 in the Town of Schleswig, he was a son of the late John and Louise Schmidt Diefenthaler. He attended public school in Kiel. On Sept. 2, 1930 he married Leona Hiller in Kiel. The couple moved to the rural Kiel area. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, the Kasper-Beckley-Wilkens American Legion Post 199, Kiel, and the Manitowoc Tribe, 49, Improved Order of Redmen.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Merlin (Joan) Riehn, Kiel, and Mrs. Nancy Barnes, Milwaukee, and eight grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded him in death.
