Mrs. Leona Diefenthaler, 70, of Route 2, Kiel, died unexpectedly at her home June 14.

The former Leona Hiller, she was born Oct 5, 1909, in Plymouth, a daughter of the late Charles and Louise Baumann Hiller. She attended Plymouth High School. On September 2, 1930, she and Oscar Diefenthaler were married in Kiel. The couple resided near Kiel. Mr. Diefenthaler died in 1974. Mrs. Diefenthaler was employed at the Kiel Glove Factory and later at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital until her retirement three years ago. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, its Women’s Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Merlin Riehn of Kiel and Mrs. Nancy Barnes, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, the Rev. John Baumann, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Schleswig Cemetery at Rockville.
