Mary Miller Stone, a daughter of Warren Henley Stone and the former Miss Martha Bedell, was born in the bounds of Ogelthorpe County, Georgia on March 27th 1783. She married James Nicholson on October 7th 1813 in Clarke County, Georgia.

They emigrated west and settled in the area of Tuskegee in Macon County, Alabama; where they raised their seven known children:
Mathew Harris (1815-1858)¹
Washington Bedell (1818-1900)
Elizabeth Ann {m. Wilkinson} (1820-1906)
Lucinda Long {m. Howard}(1823-1862)
James Monroe (1825-1903)
Absalom H (1826-1855)
John Wesley (1829-1851)

¹ Mathew died in Nicaragus; while serving in U.S. Army during Mexican War
