Mildred E. "Mil" Proctor, 73, a resident of Barstow for 63 years, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2002. Born March 31, 1929 in Clayton, N.M., she was a bookkeeper for Dick Miers (Miers & Miers) Accounting for 20 years. She graduated from Barstow High School in 1947 and was a member of the Mojave Valley Museum and First Congregational Church. Mildred was also homecoming queen and the first female recipient of the American Legion School Award. She received a scholarship from Skadron Business School in San Bernardino and graduated in 1948.She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis Sr. and Stella Pinkerton; brothers, Willis Pinkerton Jr., and Bob Pinkerton. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Clinton Proctor of Barstow; daughters, Sherry Carreon of Freeburg, Ill., Becky Linn of Golden Valley, Ariz., Sue Lemaster of Newport, Ore., Rae Baca of Barstow; sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Bob Shipley of Barstow; sisters-in-law, Willa May Pinkerton and Bobbie Lee Stephens of Barstow; mother-in-law, Dora Proctor of Barstow; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
