James lived a very full life. He worked first for his father in the building supply business in Verona, PA. He met my mother Jean while attending Pittsburgh University for his business degree.. He later worked for Thorofare Super Markets and later in life worked for the James Austin Company in Mars.
He was quite a man who accomplished most all his dreams. He was great Sailer owning several boasts, including a 4 sleeper which was docked at Lake Eire.
He loved to fish in his early days winning fishing trophies. He also was a avid painter.
He was a WWII army veteran, but hated the government, the war and never talked about the two years he spent floating around in the South Pacific. As he started to loose his memory and we had to put him the care of the VA hospital to start then on to private care in Mars, PA.
He graduated from Oakmont Hight School in 1935 and worked for 16 years for the Caleb Lee builder Supples in Verona, and was director of real-estate for Thorofare Markets for 20 years. He served 27 months in the armed services. He closed his working career with the James Austin Company in Mars, PA.
He was a member of the Oakmont Methodist church, and served as a director in the Verona Home Loan and Savings in his younger years. He was a member of the Oakmont School Board and a member of Oakmont Country Club, Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and F&AM Verona. He was a 32 Degree Mason.
He died a peaceful death in St John's Lutheran home in Mars PA, from Alzheimer.
James G. Lee, 87, of Oakmont died Sept. 17, 2004, at St. Johns Nursing Center in Mars.
James was a fifth generation lifelong Oakmont resident.
