Captain Joseph Spaulding served in the Continental Line during the American Revolution.
In 1785 he was one of the original proprietors of the Susquehanna Company's township of Ulster. In 1791 he moved to Athens, Bradford Co., PA where he settled on the West side of the Chemung where he later died. In 1815 Joseph was elected as the second sheriff of Bradford Co., PA
Joseph Jr. first married Eunice Shepard. Their children were Wealthy, John, Howard, Jared, Rachel and Sarah Spalding. Eunice died on 6 Dec 1790 in Sheshequin, Bradford Co., PA.
Joseph later married Anna Margaret (Oziah) Snell. They had two children they named: Simon and Celestia Spalding. His wife Anna later married again to Mr Abraham Snell.
