Daughter of Ray and Hilma (Olson) Miller. She was baptized as a member of the Glen Echo Baptist Church. Marie graduated from the North Platte High School in 1936 and then attended Kearney State Teacher's College. She taught in several rural schools from 1937 until retiring in 1963.
Marie married Eugene Scollin in Kimball, Nebraska on December 28, 1940. To this union two children were born.
