Kristin Reed of McAlester, OK died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. John's Hospital, Tulsa, OK. At the age of 26, Kristin took her first steps ever as she entered the gates of Heaven. Kristin was born April 22, 1983 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado to Allen and Linda (Denton) Reed. She grew up in McAlester, OK and graduated from McAlester High School with the Class of 2001. She then attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree. Kristin's greatest joy was attending the MDA Camp every year until she reached 21 years of age and her niece, Keyila. She had a big heart and was loving person. Her perseverance from her illness was an inspiration to her family and friends. Kristin attended the First Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her father Allen Reed of Krebs, OK; mother, Linda Reed of the home; sisters, Jeni Reed of the home, Kathy Holeman and husband Rex of McAlester, OK; Mandi McMath and husband Randy of Kiowa, OK, and Debbie Griggs of TN; brothers, Eric Reed and Monica of Washington, Jeffrey Reed of Krebs, OK and Steve Reed of Kiowa, OK; special niece, Keyila of the home; and nieces and nephews, Courtney, Sherri, Meagan, Aaron, Hunter, Judah, Ashley and Alicia and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and several Muscular Dystrophy Friends. The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jerry Burnside officiating. Committal Service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester, OK with Pastor Ronnie Whitfield officiating. Pallbearers: Shon Kendall, Chad Estes, Steve Reed, Eric Reed, Randall Weaver and Dwight Geneva. Honorary Pallbearers: Travis Kanard, Rex Holeman, Randy McMath, Kevin Smith and John Wilkinson. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Chaney Harkins Funeral Home, McAlester, OK.
