FAY H. FARISS SR Dies Suddenly; Services May 22
Services for Fay Hasen Fariss, Sr., one of Hardin County's outstanding citizens, who died suddenly of a heat attack last Monday night, May 20, at his home, were Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church. Bro. Russell Boaz officiated. Burial was in the Savannah Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Home in charge. He was 62.
Mr. Fariss was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. He was a charter member and a past president of the Savannah Lions Club. He was a director of the Tennessee Valley Electric Co-Operative, the Citizens Bank and the Tourist Development Program.
For 12 years he was a member of the Savannah City Commission and very active in industry Promotions. He owned and operated the Fariss Hotel, served 2 terms as head of the State Hotel Association, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the organization.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Belle DeBerry Fariss; one son, Fay Hasen Fariss, Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Jap Freeman, and four grandchildren. [Contributor Patsy Franks Belle (#48290897)]
