Dennis R. Axman, 57, of Great Bend, died Sept. 8 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born March 15, 1951, at Great Bend, the son of Benedict F. and Viola M. Demel Axman. He married Vicki K. Detmer on April 20, 1974, at Great Bend. She survives. He was a UPS Service provider. He was a lifetime resident of Olmitz and Great Bend.

Mr. Axman was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, Great Bend, and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus of Olmitz.

He enjoyed working on the family farm and was a classic-car enthusiast.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, of the home, include two daughters, Karisa M. Haberman and husband Jason J. of Great Bend, and Lora D. Hess and husband Scott B. of Hays; three brothers, Edward Axman of Wichita, Ronald Axman of Houston, Texas, and Gary Axman of Otis; three sisters, Mary Ann Mazouch of Great Bend, Jolene Mainzer of Wichita and Virginia Debes of Odin; and four grandchildren, Kori Haberman, Gavin Haberman, Logan Hess and Lucas Hess. His parents preceded him in death.

A vigil service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Father Reginald A. Urban officiant. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Cemetery, Olmitz. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, and from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Donations to memorial funds for the Prince of Peace Parish, for the Dominican Sisters or for CKMC Foundation for the Benefit of Heartland Cancer Center may be made in care of the funeral home.
