Mr. Allen was raised in Clay county and hisquiet and unassuming disposition and faultlesslife, made him deservedly popular with all whowere acquainted with him. He was a good man;a man of pure thoughts, kind words and nobledeeds. He possessed many shining traits ofcharacter, and was one of the few men who couldnumber all his acqaintances as his friends, andnone as enemies. As a citizen, he was a model;upright and law abiding, always throwing the weight of his influence on the side of moralityand good government. He was a devoted memberof the church, and supported all of it's institutions, leading a peaceable life unto all godliness and holiness.
