A memorial service will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. for Taft resident, Eugene "Gene" Murch,78. Private interment will be in the Westside District Cemetery. Mr. Murch was born in Red Bluff on April 3, 1931 and passed away on March 1, 2010. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Taft in 1957. Mr. Murch has been employed by Standard Oil Company, now Chevron, and retired as a drilling superindent in 1990, after 37 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Ina Murch and his sister Katricia Boyden. His survivors include his wife of 57 years Marlene Murch of Taft; his children and their spouses, Kevin and Nancy Murch of Bakersfield and Denise Murch and Glenn Miller of Taft; his five sisters and two brothers and by his four grandchildren, Corby Oliver, Jese Murch, Caroline Murch, and Jeremy Miller. No visitation hours are scheduled and the services are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
