Mrs. Woodworth Dies of Burns
Fatal Result of Accident That Occurred at Wisdom Monday Evening
Gasoline Fires Her Clothing
The Victim's Screams Attract a Boy, Who, Too Late, Renders All Possible Assistance
Mrs. O. J. Woodworth of Wisdom was so badly burned Monday evening that she died Wednesday morning.
In lighting a swinging gasoline lamp some of the gasoline leaked out and trickled down upon her clothing, becoming ignited when a match was struck to light the lamp.
Mrs. Woodworth's screams attracted the attention of a boy who was passing by. He rushed in to assist her, put a blanket about her head and tore the blazing clothing from her. He then ran for help, and medical attention was given as soon as possible.
Mrs. Woodworth was alone in the house, except her two little ones, when the accident occurred. She was still alive Tuesday evening, with little possibility of recovery, conscious, and not suffering.
The unfortunate woman will be remembered by many who knew her in Dillon, when she attended school here, as Alice Finsley. The bereaved husband and children will have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
