Sybil Foster Ebanks was born in Cayman Brac, British West Indies on December 3, 1924. She lived in Port Arthur for most of her life. She was a member of The Presby1erian Church of the Covenant Port Arthur, TX now Providence Church of Port Arthur, Order of the Eastern Star Port Arthur/Groves Chapter #953, where she served as Past Worthy Matron and other offices in the organization and Red Hats. She was a retired Apartment Manager. She passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband James N. Ebanks of 57 years, parents, seven brothers, one sister and long time caregiver Charlene Hamilton. She is survived by a sister Mavis Franklin of Silver Springs Maryland, a son Jeffrey Ebanks and wife Dionne of Houston, TX and a daughter Brenda Ebanks Theriot and husband Randy of Port Neches, six grandchildren that were her pride and joy, Candice Theriot of Houston, TX, Courteney Theriot of Port Neches, Jacob Ebanks, Colton Ebanks, Samuel Ebanks and Keeley Ebanks all of Houston, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 4, 2010 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Clay Faulk, officiating. An Eastern Star Memorial service will follow in the chapel by members of Chapter #953. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Providence Church, Port Arthur, Texas or Odyssey Health Care, Beaumont, Texas. Special thanks to the Order of the Eastern Star, Alberta Conner, Cynthia Streeter, Mary Williams, Odyssey Health Care team who made her last days so peaceful and many others who have taken care of her through the years.
