Kiel – (Special) – Henry Becker, 69, well-known resident of this city, passed away today at his home at 426 Chicago Avenue after an illness of about one year. He was born Oct. 6, 1869, in Germany and came to the United States in 1893, settling in the town of Rhine with his uncle, Henry Becker, from whom he learned his trade as a mason. On April 4, 1896, he married Emma Pingel of Rockville, two miles east of Kiel, and the couple resided on the Pingel homestead there for three and one-half years. In 1899 they moved to Kiel where they made their home since that time.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Kissinger, and Mrs. Albert Brickheimer, both of Elkhart Lake, and Mrs. Winford H. Johnson of Kiel; one son, Arthur, of Kiel; 14 grandchildren; one sister in Germany and a sister in Chicago.
Funeral services will be conducted at the C. J. Meiselwitz funeral home here by the Rev. Frank Zimmermann.
