Deceased Name: Gen. Bernard Ardisana , Aide At National Security Agency

Air Force Brig. Gen. Bernard Ardisana, 53, an official of the National Security Agency, died Saturday at Kimbrough Army Hospital at Ft. Meade after an apparent heart attack.

Gen. Ardisana moved to this area in June, 1947, when he became assistant deputy director for operations of the NSA.

He had served at a number of posts, both here and overseas, including that of commander of the 6924th security squadron at Danang Air Base in Vietnam during 1967.

Gen. Ardisana served in World War II as an enlisted man in the Army Signal Corps. He then joined the Air Force Reserve and was called to active duty during the Korean conflict.

He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, the Air Command and Staff College, and the Air War college.

His many awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters.

Gen. Ardisana is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and a son, Thomas, of the home at Ft. Meade; another son, John, of Denton, Tex., and a daughter, Lizabeth, of Bloomfield, Mo.
