Gary Lee Schwartz Sr., 66, of Lynn, Ark., and formerly of Shreve, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home, Shreve. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery where military rites will be conducted.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
Gary was born Feb. 27, 1944, in Massillon to John Alvin and Alma (Shonk) Swartz. He married Glenna Austin Feb. 25, 1967, and she survives.
Gary had served his country in the U.S. Army for 26 years, and during the Vietnam War. He had been a patrolman for the Holmesville Police Department.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Gary L. (Julie) Schwartz Jr. of Roughmont, N.C., Michele (James) Rowland of Lynn, Ark., Tiffany (Travis) Daugherty of Berlin and Jared (Angela) Schwartz of Lynn, Ark.; and 10 grandchildren.
Gary had two brothers, Donald Ely and Larry Lint.
