ELDER GOHEEN RITES HELD
Funeral services for Elder Israel J. Goheen, 70 were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Latter Day Saints Church in Butman. Elder Byron Doty officiated and burial was made in the Butman cemetery. Elder Goheen passed away on Saturday, May 20, after a lingering illness. He was born in Sanilac county on August 24, 1879 , and lived in Flint for 13 years before moving to Gladwin county, where he has made his home for 65 years. On January 30, 1899, he was married to Miss Lillian Brown, in Gladwin. Mr. Goheen served the Latter Day Saints Church atButman as elder since its founding, 30 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Lilly; two sons, Clayton Goheen of Gladwin and Andrew Goheen of Flint; three daughters, Mrs. Violet Roy of Clio, Mrs. Martha Faler of Flint and Mrs. Pearl Nead of Holland; two brothers, Eber and Thomas Goheen, both of Gladwn; one sister, Mrs. Olive Lapp, of Port Huron; 16 grandchildrenand 17 great grandchildren. One son and three daughters preceded their father in death. Sis of Elder Goheen's grandsons acted as pallbearers at his funeral.
