BIG SANDY Katherine B. Kane, 86, long time resident of Big Sandy, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, of natural causes.
Rosary services will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday at the St. Margaret Marys Catholic Church in Big Sandy. Funeral Mass will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Margaret Marys Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Big Sandy Cemetery.
Kane was born Oct. 12, 1912, at Chinook to Gus and Katherine (Snyder) Holst. She attended school in Chinook and graduated from Chinook High School. She attended Northern Montana College for two years. She taught school at Warrick for two years.
In 1935, she married Gerald Kane. The couple ranched on Dog Creek. They moved to Sand Creek in 1946, and continued ranching. He died in 1979. She became a resident of a Havre care center in 1998.
Her hobbies included sewing and growing flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, a son, and her husband in 1979.
Survivors include sons, Gerald Kane of Big Sandy and Larry Kane of Billings; a sister, Lillian Phelan of Havre; a brother, Walter Holst of Hamilton; and one grandson.
