Daughter of Hazel C. Hampton and Thomas Cornwell. Half-sister of Faith Elizabeth Baber.

Married George Horace Tillinghast (1914-1958); after his death, she later married his brother, Harold Austin Tillinghast (1906-1976). Susie and Harold moved (with sons Danny and Steven) from Sebastopol, California to Washington state in the 1960's. They briefly lived on a farm near Centralia, Washington, then managed a store in Tacoma for awhile, before settling in Randle, Washington in the 1970's.

Susie loved baking and she loved animals; she was known to rescue several of them.

Susie (with her first husband, George) had 5 children:
George Thomas Tillinghast (1942-1994)
Sharon Fay Tillinghast Kendall (1944-1966; findagrave memorial # 14667441)
David Lee Tillinghast (1948-1949)

and her sons, Dan and Steven, who are still living. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and at least 14 great-grandchildren.
