He was born Sept. 12, 1929, the son of Clarence W. and Hazel Wood Coburn.
He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1951.
Following graduation, Mr. Coburn served in Korea with the 7th Division as a second lieutenant, earning a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He worked in banking and finance in Vermont and New Hampshire for 40 years. He was assistant vice-president at First Vermont Bank in Rutland from 1981-1986. He retired as vice president of commercial lending at Horizon Bank and Trust in Concord.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patricia Claire Miller Coburn of Beebe, Quebec; four children, Kevin Coburn of Vergennes, Jonathan Coburn of Holly Springs, N.C., Allyson Coburn of Barnet and Daniel Coburn of Appleton, Wis.; six grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and a twin sister, Ruth Forbes of Burlington.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Post Mills Congregational Church.
