The funeral for Mr. Charles F. Albertson Sr., 82, of 3877E CR-300S, LaPorte, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating.

Mr. Albertson died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at 11:48 p.m. at LaPorte Hospital.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service. Cremation will take place and burial of ashes will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN 46350.

He was born Aug. 24, 1921, in LaPorte to Alfred Sr. and Phoebe (Lang) Albertson, and had lived all his life in the LaPorte area.

Mr. Albertson retired in 1978 as a truck driver for Tucker Freight Lines after 32 years. After retirement, he drove a truck for Pavey's Excavating for 13 years and Woodham Trucking for two years. He was a member of Teamsters Union Retirement Club and Teamsters Union Local 135. He loved driving trucks.

On April 20, 1942, in LaPorte, he married Betty J. Farrar, who survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Bet Igou of Scottsburg, Ind., Roberta Galloway of Indianapolis, Debbie (Dueane) Capron and Judy Duensing, both of LaPorte, and Marcia (Wilbert) Strefling of Port Charlotte, Fla.; four sons, Charles (Lynn) Jr., Robert Sr., John and Rick Sr. (Anjy), all of LaPorte; 31 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sandy Okrzesik; one son, Ron Sr.; four sisters and three brothers.
