"FREEMAN JAMES NYE (Jeduthan, Hezekiah, Samuel, Ebenezer, Caleb, Benjamin), born at Bennington, Vt., July 23, 1825. He resided in Ohio, until 1853 when he removed to Hortonville, Wis., where he now resided. He served in Company F, 43d Wisconsin Volunteers, from August 31, 1864 to June 24, 1865. He has been a deacon in the Free Baptist church for over forty years. He married (1st) December 20, 1849, Hannah A., daughter of William and Mary (Pierce) Pickett. She died in 1892 and he married (2d) May 21, 1895, Mrs. Mary Ann Degal."
