Samuel Horace Maynard was the son of Robert Benjamin Maynard and Susan Moss Brown. He married Ethal Lovadah Richardson in 1939 in TN. They had one daughter; Emily Susan Maynard. He served in the U.S. Army as a Cpl and fought in France during World War I. He later operated a furniture store in Chattanooga and during World War II he served on the Rationing Board.
