Her husband, Z.R. Howard was a farmer, county judge, hotel owner, and grocery store owner. After selling their farm in Clay County, KY, in the early 1900s, they moved to Corbin, KY, where they owned and operated the Howard Hotel, which included a pool parlor and candy store.
In 1919, the Howard Hotel collapsed due to exacavation of an adjoining property. The building was a total loss and was not rebuilt. In the following years, Z.R. Howard, and later with his son Israel, ran a small grocery store on their farm property on a highway outside of Corbin, KY. She lived on that farm until her death in 1946.
