The June 2, 1900, U.S. Census record lists Annie, age: 15, as a servant in the household of her uncle and aunt, Henry W. and Matilda W. Kimm, living in Bear Grove township, Guthrie county, Iowa.

The following year, on September 5, 1901, Anna D. Ficken married John J. Brown in Bear Grove township, Guthrie county, Iowa. Although their age difference was great, their marriage was blessed with the following linked children.

The family lived and farmed in Bear Grove township, Guthrie county, Iowa, before moving west to California and Colorado before settling in Brownsville, Linn county, Oregon.

The April 19, 1910, U.S. Census record lists Annie, age: 25; her husband, John J. Brown, age: 72, living in Brownsville, Linn county, Oregon.

The Military Service Pension record dated March 9, 1916, lists Annie Brown (widow of soldier, John J. Brown, a Civil War veteran who served as a private with Company H of the 55th Illinois Infantry) as guardian for Army minor children (Delbert H., Mary, Nellie, and Frances). [Note: family information had that Great Aunt Annie had six children; if so, the other two children likely died young as they are not listed on the military service pension record.]

The January 2, 1920, U.S. Census record lists Annie, age: 35, widowed and living in Brownsville. Annie died the following year at age 36 while on a business trip with her daughter to Medford or Portland.

[Note: The family are all buried in Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery except for their son, Delbert H., who is buried in Massachusetts National Cemetery.]
