He was united in marriage to Sallie Blanton in 1874 and to this union 10 children were born, eight of whom preceded him to the great beyond. The two surviving are Mrs. Claude Cardwell of St. Louis and Mrs. Annie Simmerly of Bourbon. The first wife passed away in 1889.
In later years he married Ellen Pratt and to this union four children were born. The only two remaining are Homer and Orvil Blanton of St. Louis. Later his wife passed away also.
In later years he married Lena Blackburn, whom he leaves to mourn his loss and thirty grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and several other relatives and friends.
Burial was made in Buffalo Cemetery.
