Captain T. C. Turner, USMC, was designated Naval Aviator #772 in 1918.

Awarded Distinguished Flying Cross as commanding officer of a pioneer flight from Washington, D.C. to Santo Domingo, DR and return in 1921, the longest unguarded flight in a land-plane over land and water by Naval Aviators to date.

Died at the U.S. Naval Hospital following an aircraft accident (struck by a propeller) at Conaives, Haiti on 26 OCT 1931.

Turner Field at MCAS Quantico, Va. named in his honor.
