Actor and director of early silent films. His real name was Duncan McKerrow. Van Dyke Brooke was a pseudonym he used as a screen credit only. The aging actor entered the motion picture industry in 1909 with the old Vitagraph Studios. In addition to acting in, he directed countless short films, particularly those starring John Bunny and Norma Talmadge. By 1916, he was let go from Vitagraph, but continued directing for other studios until retiring in 1920. He was survived by his widow, Julia.
