Lyle Alvin Boyd 87, of Argenta, died 6 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) in his home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Brintlinger's Funeral Home with visitation 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to Decatur Memorial Hospital Hospice.

Mr. Boyd was born May 26, 1911, in Decatur, the son of Alvin Timothy and Florence May Larrabee Boyd. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Oreana Baptist Church. He married Nellie Louise Edgecombe on Jan. 25, 1934.

Surviving are his wife; son, Alvin Boyd and wife Connie of Argenta; daughters, Illene Tucker and husband Tom "Ralph" of Decatur; Kay Brown of Argenta; Hazel DeFore and husband Ward of Oreana; Carol Johnson and husband David of Tuxedo, Md.; May Vance and husband Jim of Farmer City; brothers, Wayne of Camargo; Glenn of Arcola; Dale of Argenta; Joe of Decatur; sisters, Edna Anderson and Florence Davis of Decatur; Ruth Wilber of Colfax; Jane Whitson of Mount Pulaski; 26 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; Mr. Boyd leaves 102 descendants.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Samuel, twin daughters, Lois and Louise, one brother, one sister and one son-in-law.

Mr. Boyd enjoyed the simple pleasures of farming and family life.
