Donna Nielsen, 58, Lake Benton, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at her son's home in Champlin.

A memorial service was held Thursday, May 27 at Alliance Church in Tyler.

Burial was in Danebod Lutheran Cemetery.

Donna Rae Nielsen was born May 6, 1946 in Hendricks to Marvin and Velva Mae (VanNingen) Simmons. She grew up in White, S.D. and attended country school and graduated from White Public School.

She married Virgil Nielsen on Sept. 5, 1965 in White. They settled on the family farm in Fountain Prairie Township, Pipestone County. They retired in 1999 and continued to live on the farm. Donna was a homemaker and also ran "Donna's Concession Stand" for 11 years, which she took to county fairs and community events in the area. She was a member of the extension club.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil, Lake Benton; children, Darron Nielsen, Dallas, Texas; Cindy (Jason) Anderson, Victoria; Greg (Laura) Nielsen, Champlin and Angie Nielsen, Plymouth; five grandchildren; one sister, Marvel (Tom) Simmons, Albert Lea and two brothers, Roger (Dottie) Simmons, Brookings, S.D. and Clarence (Eunice) Simmons, White.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Ann and one brother, Michael.
