Samuel J. Brown
Gloucester - Samuel Jefferson Brown, 58, died Friday night at his residence at Schley.
From Gloucester, he was a member of Singleton United Methodist Church.
He lived in Northern Virginia for 25 years before moving back to Gloucester in 1980.
Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in Okinawa in 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marianne Timberlake Brown; two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca B. Anderson of Schley and Miss Patricia V. Brown of Alexandria; his mother, Mrs. Joseph Walter Brown of Schley; a sister, Mrs. Hugh G. Dischinger Gloucester; four brothers, Dr. Raymond S Brown, Fred L. Brown, and Joseph W. Brown Jr., all of Gloucester, and Dr. William B. Brown of Lisbon, Portugal.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Singleton United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ralph B. Goodman.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, is in charge of arrangements.
