· After an illness of eight months, John Coburn passed away at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, April 16, 1924. He was born at Yetholm, Scotland, July 9, 1867. His parents William and Margaret Laidlaw Coburn came to America, when he was two years of age and located in Kalamazoo, where he spent his boyhood days and attended the public schools. The greater part of his life was spent with his parents and sisters on the Coburn farm south of Galesburg in the spring of 1917 his mother pass¬ed away and the home was broken up. In October of the same year he married Agnes Clark Smith of Galesburg formerly of Earlston, Berwickshire, Scotland. Later he purchased the Austin farm east of Galesburg. Failing health again caused him to change and with his family he removed to Climax and took over the Bakery where he resided at the time of his death. He leaves a widow an d one son Bruce Laidlaw, aged Five; two brothers, James W. Coburn, at present living on the Coburn farm; William C Coburn of Battle Creek; and one sister Margaret Kinney of near Fulton. His eldest brother Adam Coburn of Galesburg, and sister Ella Kinney and parents preceded him to the grave. T h e funeral services were held from the M. Church, Climax, Friday at 1:30 p.m. Rev.
