Hans Sather was born in Norway, October 8, 1852. He grew to manhood among the environments of his homeland, and was married there. In 1884 he left Norway and immigrated to the United States, settling on a farm in this community.
They continued on their farm enterprise, and in 1910 Mrs. Sather passed away.
On March 21, 1911 the Lincoln county pioneer was united in marriage to Tena Halberson at Phillip, SD, and soon afterwards, Mr. and Mrs. Sather made their home in Worthing. They spent their declining years there, Mrs. Sather preceding him in death. She died March 4, 1934.
Mr. Sather spent his last six months with his son, Oscar Sather, south of Lennox, passing away January 8, 1937.
Mr. and Mrs. Sather were for many years affiliated with the West Prairie Lutheran church.
Two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Newman of Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Helen Odegaard of Lowry, Minn., and one son, Oscar Sather, survived.
Also, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
