Civilian casualty of the Great War, Leonard was one of many victims of a Zeppelin attack on East London.

Sadly, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission do not commemorate civilian war dead from WWI, only for WWII.
Leonard was just 5 years old.

On June the 13th, 18 children were tragically killed when a bomb fell through the roof of their school in Upper North Street, Poplar.
The funeral was on the 20th of June for all of the children. 15 children were buried in a mass grave and 3 had private burials.
