Capt. Joshua Robbins, Esq., s. of Gentleman John Robbins & his wife Mary, b. Oct. 21, 1652 at Wethersfield, Conn. He d. testate Dec. 15, 1738 at Wethersfield, Æ 87.

On Dec. 24, 1680 at Wethersfield (by Capt. John Chester), Joshua m. an Elizabeth whose maiden name is not included in the recorded marriage. For the reasons outlined in her separate memorial, the memorialist believes she was Elizabeth Rose, dau. of Daniel Rose & Elizabeth Goodrich, b. Apr. 15, 1665 at Wethersfield. She d. at Wethersfield Apr. 24, 1736, Æ 72, and has an extant gravestone. Unfortunately, by 1899 Joshua had no extant gravestone.

The children of Capt. Joshua Robbins and wife Elizabeth b. of record at Wethersfield, Conn. are:

• i. Capt. Joshua Jr., b. Oct. 21, 1681, d. testate May 30, 1733 at Wethersfield; m. Nov. 20, 1707 at Hartford, Conn. (by Rev. Timo. Woodbridge), Sarah Bidwell, dau. of John Bidwell and Sarah Wells, b. Aug. 19 (bap. Oct. 23), 1681 at Hartford. Eight children of the family. Sarah m. 2) May 3, 1739 at Wethersfield, Capt. Thomas Wells and d. Dec. 3, 1744 at Wethersfield.

• ii. Elizabeth, b. Dec. 29, 1684, d. Aug 26, 1761 at Gastonbury, Conn., Æ 76; m. Mar 18, 1703/4 at Gastonbury, Dea. & Capt. Nathaniel Talcott, s. of Capt. Samuel Talcott and Hannah Holyoke, b. Jan. 28, 1677/8 at Wethersfield. He d. at Glastonbury, Jan. 30, 1758.

• iii. Hannah, b. June 10, 1688; m. Jan. 6, 1708/9 at Wethersfield (by Rev. S. Mix), Joseph Wells. Seven children of the framily.

• iv. Mary, b. July 10, 1692, d. Sept. 17, 1760 at Wethersfield; m. July 16, 1713 at Wethersfield (Rev. S. Mix), Lieut. James Treat, s. Lieut. James Treat and Rebecca Latimer, b. circa 1681 at Wethersfield. He d. Sept. 5, 1756 at Wethersfield. Three children of the family.

• v. Capt. Jonathan, b. Dec. 28, 1693, d. July 15, 1777 at Wethersfield; m. Nov. 21, 1728 at Wethersfield (Rev. S. Mix), Sarah Wells, dau. of Capt. Robert Wells and Sarah Wolcott, b. Feb. 5, 1708/9 at Wethersfield. She d. May 5, 1776. One known child of the family, son Appleton.

• vi. Abigail, b. June 12, 1697; m. Nov. 30, 1716 at Wethersfield (Rev. S. Mix), Silas Belden, s. Dea. Jonathan Belden and Mary Wright, b. July29, 1691 at Wethersfield. Seven known children of the family.

• vii. Comfort Coleman, b. Dec. 8, 1699; m. circa 1726 John Coleman, Jr., s. of Lieut. John Coleman and Hannah Wright, b. July 27, 1729 at Wethersfield. Six known children of the family. This couple moved to Bolton, Conn. in July 1743.

• viii. Sarah, b. Dec. 31, 1703 and d. in her youth Dec. 29, 1710.

In Tillotson's 1899 "Wethersfield Inscriptions," although wife Elizabeth had a standing gravestone, Joshua had no surviving gravestone. He is interred in a now unmarked grave, presumably adjacent or near to wife Elizabeth.
