Judge Luther Gribble died Wednesday, January 8, about 6 a.m. in Panhandle, where he was holding court. A native of Wellington, Judge Gribble was born here December 12, 1891, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Gribble.
He attended the Wellington schools, Clarendon College and Southwestern University at Georgetown, and taught at Cherokee Junior College and Clarendon College before beginning the practive of law here on January 1, 1919.
He was beginning his 20th years as judge of the 100th Judicial District and his 17 year as presiding judge of the 43-county 9th Administrative Judicial District.
He was married to Miss Esther Olivia Lehmberg on August 20, 1916. She preceded him in death October 10, 1952.
On December 20, 1960, he was married to Mrs. Helen Hurst.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter and son, Mrs. Sanford Bunin of Richland, Washington and L. E. Gribble of Newport Beach, California; a step-daughter, Mrs. Don Hood of Lubbock; 6 grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Percy Wells and Mrs. Fred Watkins of Wellington and Mrs. Estella Cocke of LaPort.
