Lt. Lee G. Bratcher, 28, has been officially listed as killed in service over Eisenach, Germany. His wife, of Hillsboro, was notified earlier that he was missing in action. Lee Bratcher died from a B-17 Flying Fortress crash. He received his early education at Loving school. Lee Bratcher volunteered for World War II on 14 December 1941 and received training at Sheppard Field in Wichita Falls, Randolph Field in San Antonio, Killington Field in Houston. He received his bombardier training and his wings. Bratcher served as an instructor for a year. He sailed overseas in July 1944. He was missing in action over Eisenach, Germany on 16 August 1944. In 1946, Lee Bratcher was buried in the civilian cemetery in the Russian Zone. He was reburied in the Loving cemetery. 2nd Lt. Bratcher was a member of the Loving Baptist Church.

His wife, the former Miss Darla Stewart has been residing in Hillsboro with their small daughter, Sandra Lee. He is survived by his mother, a sister - Mrs. Arthur Burdick; grandparents.
