John C. Rumsey
John C. Rumsey was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Rumsey and lived at 310 West State street. He was twenty-three years of age and was a graduate of the Ithaca High School and a member of one of its fraternities. For some time he had been a clerk in the hardware store of C.J. Rumsey & Company.
Mr. Rumsey was a member of Torrent Hose Company, No. 5 and had always taken an active part in the work of the company. Owing to his superior knowledge of the automobile hose cart he was generally its driver when it was taken to fire duty. He is survived by his father and mother and one brother, Lawrence C. Rumsey.

Fireman's Funeral
John C. Rumsey, Who Lost His Life While on Duty Yesterday Morning to be Buried Tomorrow
The funeral of John C. Rumsey will be held from the late home in West State street tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, the Revs. Heizer and George officiating. Interment will be made in the family vault in the City cemetery.
The pallbearers were selected from his father's store and No. 5 Hose company of which Mr. Rumsey was a member. They are Irving Rumsey, William Millard, Art Miller, Fred Smith, Fitch Stevens and Lew Burt.
