Joyce Whaley, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at DCH in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Mrs. Whaley was born June 6, 1939, in Lamar County, Alabama to the late John Willey and Delilah Mae Pennington Kemp. She was a member of Sulligent Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Waley attended Lamar County High School. She previously worked at Pineview Health in Winfield. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 15, 2007 from the Chapel of Otts Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Gilmer Addition / Sulligent City Cemetery unde rthe direction of Otts Funeral Home, Sulligent, Alabama. Pallbearers were Rody Whaley, Scott Whaley, Garrett Whaley, Justin Whaley, Blake Whaley and Brock Otts. Survivors include her husband, Shirley W. Whaley, Sullingent, Alabama two sons, John (DaNett) Whaley, Hailey, IDand Ricky (Sherry) Whaley, Sarasota, FL; one daughter, Tisa (Larry) Watkins, Fayette, AL; nine grandchildren, Rod Whaley, Scott Whaley, Kandy Blackburn, Tabby Clark, Justin Whaley, Blake Whaley, Garrett Whaley, Cody Whaley and Andy Armstrong; two great grandchildren, River Whaley and Melvin Whaley. Preceded in death by, her parents, John Willey and Delilah May Kemp; one brother J. W. Kemp; two sisters, Margie McKay and Josie Pope.
