Willie "Wilson" Thompson was the only son of William James "Willie" Thompson and Margaret Alice Thompson. Wilson married Mary "Lillian" Ashford on 20 Mar 1916 in Morgan County, Alabama. Wilson & Lillian had twin sons, Reed Wilson Thompson and Raymond Ashford "Ray" Thompson. The boys were born in Decatur, Morgan County, Alabama.

Wilson was an avid baseball fan and coached the local YMCA boys baseball team. Wilson worked for the railroad. Wilson was killed while trying to board a moving locomotive at the Decatur Train Depot. In the darkness, he lost his footing and fell beneath the engine. He was killed instantly.

Wilson's wife Lillian married William Alfred Jacobs about 1926. Lillian died after a brief illness on 1 May 1928.

After Lillian's death, their twin sons lived with Lillian's sister, Ursula Georgie "Sula" Ashford and her husband Richard Rice Durrett. The Durrett's and their nephews moved from Decatur, Alabama to North Little Rock, Arkansas before 1930 and remained there for the duration of their lives.

Reed Thompson & Raymond Thompson are both buried in Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
