Egbert W. Hooker, 63, chief clerk, Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, died this morning at the family residence, 107 North Avenue, Bryan, at 5 AM.
Funeral services will be held at the Hillier Funeral Home Thursday at 5 PM with Rev. James B. Argue, pastor, First Methodist Church, College Station, officiating. Burial will be in College Station City Cemetery.
Mr. Hooker was a native of Shiro, Grimes county, where he was born January 21, 1896. He graduated from Trinity University Academy, Waxahachie, in 1913 and attended Trinity University for one year.
He was first employed at Texas A&M College in 1927 in the Fiscal Department. In November 1928 he transferred to the athletic department and in 1943 was named assistant chief clerk for the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. He was appointed to the position he held at the time of his death in February 1947.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church, College Station; Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge 17, Anderson, Texas; was a veteran of World War I and served in the AEF from July 1918 to July 1919.
Pallbearers will be W. L. Penberthy, O. W. Kelley, Roy Hagler, V. E. Schember, Marcus Holleman and Gibb Gilchrist.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Adele Hooker of the home address and a brother, Sam, of Shiro.
