LAURA JANE (RUSHTON) MACY
Mrs. Laura Macy of Osborne, who has been an invalid for five years, died at her home on north Fourth street last Thursday at midnight, age 56 years. On account of the quarantine regulations at present in force, the funeral, which was held Tuesday of this week, was private. Interment was made at Macyville, by the side of her late husband, A. N. Macy, who passed away several years ago. Laura Rushton was born in Wapello county, Iowa, April 4, 1862. She came with her parents to Cloud county, Kansas at the age of eleven years. At the age of twenty-two she was united in marriage with Alfred N. Macy, on May 4, 1884. They remained in Cloud county until May, 1904, since which time family residence has been in Osborne. Six children were born to them -- Roy E., who died at the age of ten; Irena Macy of Osborne; Mrs. Jessie Van Gundy of Kansas City; Harold and Howard, who are now in army training camps; and Phil Macy, a student in the Osborne high school. Mrs. Macy has been a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist church since early girlhood and a constant atendant at its services. During her long illness she has been tenderly cared for by her daughter, Irena. Four sisters also survive her, two living in Cloud county, and one in Lincoln county, Kansas. The fourth sister is a resident of Anchorage, Alaska.
