Mrs. J.M. Hendy Passes Away

Remains of Former Residen Brought Here for Burial

The remains of Mrs. J.M. Hendy were brought here from her home in Flora, Ill., and taken to the home of W.B. Atwood, yesterday.

Mrs. Hendy is a former resident of this place, but left here several years ago, locating at Terre Haute, thence to Flora.

Mrs. Hendy was born October 27, 1853 and died of typhoid pnemuonia December 27, 1916, aged 63 years and 2 months.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Canaday, both deceased. She is the mother of five children three of whom survive, viz., E.U. Hendy of Barbersville, Ky., Mrs. Murl G. Ferrell of Terre Haute, Ind. and Joy M. Hendy of Beardstown, Ill. Irwin and Pearl Hendy deceased.

Besides the above there are three half sisters, Mrs. W.B. Atwood, Mrs. A.C. Musgrave, Miss Minn Canaday, step mother Mrs. Charity Canaday and the husband J.M. Hendy to mourn her demise.

The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian Church, Rev. T.A. Lindenmyer officiating. Intermet in the local cemetery.

Lucy is the daughter of Richard W. and Surilda Stewart Canaday. Her younger brother William David Canaday as well as her father and stepmother are also buried in this cemetery.
