A.G. Kessinger, Master Chief Petty Officer, USN, Retired, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Greenville, NC.

Born August 27, 1925 in Ewing, TX, A.G. served 21 years (from 1943 to 1964) in the U.S. N

During WWII he was aboard the USS Raymond DD341 in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, off of Samar Island.

Upon retirement from the U.S. Navy, he worked 21 years at Vitro Laboratories in Silver Spring, MD and retired in 1985. The family lived in Frederick, MD from 1971 to 1998 where he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and remodeling their home. He and his wife Delorice moved to New Bern, NC in September of 1998.

A.G. leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Delorice "Dee" Kessinger and a big loving family. Daughters, Pat Pyles and husband James of Buchanan, GA; Tiawanna Wickersham and husband Dean of Houston, TX; Alicia Kessinger-Bader of Atlanta, GA; Lisa Nesbitt and husband Dale of DeBary, FL; Nesha Stone and husband Greg of Wilmington, NC; Allison Gosnell and husband Andrew of Frederick, MD; sons, Donald Hauser and wife Gaelyn and Alan Kessinger, all of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and was one of seven brothers and sisters.

Private services will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
