She grew up in Minden and attended Minden High School. Janell earned her G.E.D. from Arapahoe High School in 1974. On June 1, 1955, she married Clarence 'Lucky' Ernest Hammond at Minden. They had four children, Pamela, 'Chuck', Joy and Michael. They lived in Holdrege, Kearney, Arapahoe and Elwood before moving to Aurora in 1981. Janell worked part-time at several jobs in the communities they lived over the years. They began to raise Rat Terriers about 12 years ago.
Janell was a very active member of Assembly of God Church before her health declined. She enjoyed the many Bible Studies she was involved in while in several of the communities that they had lived. Their home was open to family, friends and strangers. They would say, "A stranger is a friend you had not met yet."
She was preceded in death by her parents, and stepmother, Hazel Anderson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clarence 'Lucky' Hammond of Aurora; four children, Pamela (Dawson) Johnson of Johnson Lake, Roy "Chuck" (Sara Beth) Charles Hammond of Eagle, Joy (Ron) Hock of Aurora and Michael (Misti) Hammond of Aurora; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Bronson of Waxahachie, Texas; sister, Mary Ann Losey of Kearney and many friends.
