Mr. Joseph Robert "Bob" Winn, Sr., 68 of Burnt Fort, Georgia, passed away late Tuesday evening (February 23, 2010) at Memorial Health Hospital in Jacksonville following a brief illness.

Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Mr. Winn lived in Hickox for many years before moving to Burnt Fort in 1992. He was the owner & operator of Winn Masonry and also built the Confederate Memorial Monument in Waynesville.

Mr. Winn loved to spend time with his family & grandchildren passing along his many family traditions. He will be remembered for his caring and helpful ways toward others & was also known as one of the best fishermen in South Georgia. Mr. Winn was of the Baptist faith.

He was a son of the late Jasper Robert Winn & Mary Estelle Watson Winn Crosby.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Batten Winn of Burnt Fort; three daughters, Betty Jo Lyons (husband Tony) of the Hickox Community, Kathy Aldridge (husband Bobby) of Hickox, Karen Jackson (husband Rickey) of the Hickox Community; a son, Joseph Robert "J.R." Winn (wife Dawn) of the Hickox Community; three sisters, Jeanette Johnson (husband Joe) of Patterson, Darlene Lightsey (husband Ardle) of K'ville, Jane Bowen (husband Terry) of Blackshear; two brothers, A.J. Crosby, Jr. of Patterson and Ward Crosby (wife Gayla) of Blackshear; two step sisters, Pat Todd (husband Burt) of Brunswick and Jackie Strickland of Brunswick; two brothers-in-law, Carroll Batten (wife Treva) of Hickox and Foy Batten of Burnt Fort; twelve grandchildren, Terrie Aldridge, Trisha Strickland (husband David), Melissa Lee (husband Terry), Julie Winn, James Lyons (wife Mandy), Brandie Altman (husband Chase), Lieutenant Kimberly Carter, Shawn Jackson, Joseph Robert "Joe" Winn III, Stephen Aldridge, Garrick Jackson, Jasper Winn; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 10 o'clock Thursday evening (February 25, 2010) at his residence (1381 John Bailey Mill Road – White Oak, Georgia 31568).

Graveside services for Mr. Winn will be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon (February 26, 2010) from the McClellan Family Cemetery.

Interment will be held in the McClellan Family Cemetery.
