Eugene Drayton Crisman was born on September 8, 1919 on a farm near Garrison, IA, to Murray Sr. and Ida (Troxel) Crisman. He was raised and attended school in Vinton where he excelled at track and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. He served his country in the Army during WWII as a reconnaisance officer serving under General Patton. On October 4, 1943 he married Mary Wyckoff at St. Louis, MO. He worked for the Lefubure Company for a few years, the ASCS office and at Vinton Farm Center assembling machinery for many years before retiring in 1984. An avid fisherman, Eugene also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Presbyterian Church where he served as Trustee. He was also a Taylor Township Trustee and election judge for several years. His death from cancer came on Monday, June 28, 2004 at Virginia Gay Hospital at the age of 84 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Murray "Jack" Crisman and a granddaughter, Jennifer Crisman. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary, of Vinton, daughters Claudia (Jim) Prange, Franklin, TN, and Teresa (Dick) Noe, Garrison, IA, son Tom (Judy) Crisman, Martinez, GA, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Lillian Crisman, Vinton, IA, and Elinor Andrews, Cedar Rapids, IA, and two nephews.

Funeral services for Eugene D. Crisman, 84, of Vinton, were Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton with the Rev. James Blair officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date with the Rev. Rose Taul officiating. Mr. Crisman died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton from cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary, of Vinton; two daughters, Claudia (Jim) Prange of Franklin, TN, and Teresa (Dick) Noe of Garrison; one son, Tom (Judy) Crisman of Martinez, GA; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lillian Crisman of Vinton, and Elinor Andrews of Cedar Rapids; and two nephews.

Overton-Van Steenhuyse Funeral Home of Vinton, was in charge of arrangements.
