Mr. Percy E. Strickland, Jr., 84, died January 22, 2011 at his residence in Osyka. Visitation is Monday, January 24, 2011, from 5:00 until 9:00 pm at Catchings Funeral Home, McComb, MS, and 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Osyka Baptist Church in Osyka, MS, with burial in the Osyka Cemetery. Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, MS is handling the arrangements. Bro. Milton Kliesch will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Strickland, Dustin Mack, Keith Strickland, Chad Strickland, Blake Strickland and Colton Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Anderson, Sr., Tyson Gabler, Andy Childress, and Jeffrey LaLa.

Mr. Strickland was born December 13, 1926 in Magnolia, MS, to Percy Strickland and Carrie Simmons Strickland. He was the retired owner of Strickland's Aauto Parts & Service where he was in business with his wife and two sons for 45 years. He was a US Army veteran and a member of Osyka Baptist Church in Osyka, MS. He served as a deacon and chairman of the deacons for many years. He was a member of the Osyka Lions Club and served as president for several years.

His family says he was a very dedicated father, husband and family man. He was also a very dedicated Christian. He brought all of his children and grandchildren up in the church. He will be remembered as the best Father and Grandfather in the world and will be missed so much.

Survivors include: sons: Michael Phillip Strickland and wife Colleen of Osyka, Randall E. Strickland and wife Tammy of Osyka, and Percy Timothy "Tim" Strickland and wife Allison of Summit; daughters: Sandra S. Smith of Chatawa and Sheree P. Strickland of summit; sisters: Hazel Mullins of Austin, TX and Trenette Shelton of White Bluffs, TN and sister-in-law Bobbie McKinney and husband Marlon of Yukon, OK, grandchildren: Shelia Childress and husband Andy of Kentwood, LA, Phillip Strickland of Kentwood, LA, Dustin Mack of Pigeon Forge, TN, Keith Strickland and wife Brittany of New Orleans, LA, Chad Strickland and wife Joyce of Hattiesburg, MS, Tiffany Lala and husband Jeffrey of Meraux, LA, Lisa Strickland of New Orleans, LA, Blake Strickland of Hammond, LA, Colton Smith of Chatawa, MS, Alex Hubbard of Summit, MS; great grandchildren: Silas, Meredith and Amelia Childress, and Caleb Gabler; special friends Mindy Bankston, Andi Hernadez, Karl Mack, Wayne Anderson, Sr., Tyson gabler and Shirley strickland, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sharron Varnado Strickland; sisters Edna Hughes and J.C., Christine Freeman and husband Joe and brother-in-law George Mullins.
