Official Name: Lett's Loki Lunchbox

She was also affectionately known to family and friends as "Sweet B" and "Nan".

Loki was a pure bred Great Dane with a gigantic heart. Because she was a Merle, which is not a standard color, she could never be a show dog. Instead she became a beloved member of our family, when my brother adopted her and brought her home.

They went everywhere together, and she grew up with a loving master and best friend, and she thrived on his attention.

"Sweet B" was a gentle soul and was totally devoted to my brother.. and it must be said that the feeling was mutual.

She died of stomach torsion. Even though she was rushed to the vet as soon as she developed symptoms, there was nothing that could be done to save her. Dogs usually die from torsion within two hours of the first symptom - and Great Danes are especially susceptible to it.

My brother wrote: "Just got back from the vet, Loki didn't come home with me. She's gone. I lost my best friend tonight."

It was all he could say.. and the rest of us mourn her loss with him. Loki was a big part of our family, and she will be remembered and missed for the rest of our lives.

We love you Nan.. and we always will.
